First Weightlifting Session
I completed my first weightlifting session this evening. As someone who has started and quit working out dozens of times in my life, I have learned that I am more likely to stick to a workout plan if it is brief and lower volume.
Tonight was back and biceps. This included lat pulldowns with palms rotated inward, trap bar deadlifts (just due to space - otherwise would have done regular deadlifts), band assisted pullups, preacher bench (preacher curl pad) dumbbell curls, and hammer cable curls.
I'm going to try to keep my workout sessions to around 30 - 40 minutes. I will complete 1 or 2 light warmup sets and then get to work. The goal is to have 1 working set to technical failure. For some exercises with heavier weight like squats or bench, I'll incorporate a couple of acclimation sets and work my way up.
This may not be best way to train, but for right now, I think this will suit my schedule and expectations. I expect to see some results.
Not going to lie. I felt pretty weak. I know that over time, I'll regain my strength or at least much of it. I'm glad to get started back on the fitness journey.
